Simplification and Approximation

Simplification is the basic art of making math easier. It is the process of turning a long, complex math problem into a single, simple number. To do this correctly, we follow a strict set of rules called BODMAS. This acronym stands for Brackets, Orders (like square roots or powers), Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction. If you do not follow this order, your answer will be wrong. For example, if you have 2 + 3 x 5, you must multiply 3 and 5 first. This gives 15.
